Yeah, but from your link the Race Technology site it says for the Canems

Race Technology ECU interface has the same connector and pin out so a null modem cable is required to connect the devices together
Null modem cable switches pins 2 and 3 with female connectors on both ends (Cable supplied with ECU serial interface adaptor).

now i can either buy a null cable off amazon for £6 or use the double female thingy i bought the other day and swap the wires in the ECU plug to swap pins 2 'n' 3.

The only problem i can see doing the second option is that i'll need a null cable to swap the pins back if i needed to plug the ECU into the lappy.

The expensive cables look like they plug into the OBD ports and do some sort of black magic

A null modem cable is not just pins 2@3 that swap it is a multi cross over.

Try the null modem idea, fill your boots. You know, I'm stunned that Race Technology charge £150 for a ECU cable to connect DL1 to Canems when you can just switch some connectors around.

I suspect you haven't read this correctly....

Race Technology ECU interface has the same connector and pin out so a null modem cable is required to connect the devices together

The people that make pigeon clocks do shaft you in making expensive cables that are no different to standard ones, just thought that this might be the same. You hear stories of engine builders grinding the numbers off ford parts and sending them out for a lot more money.

Balls you may be right, we'll just have to wait and see whats coming in the box when it comes. (come on ebay :lol: )

Oil pressure and Oil temp, fuel level and fuel pressure. Everything else is off the ECU including RPM.

I'm hoping to fix/fettle Striker.
1. Fix injured wing post Le Mans
2. Reinstall rev limiter now I know it weasn't the cause of misfire (blocked idle jet)
3. Remove screen and dash and general tidy of dash.

To finish off fury in bits in garage,

1. Finish exhaust.
2. Flare arches to cover wheels.
3. Fit supercharger.
4. Make bag seat.
5. Fit new seat belts.

Wow wish I did not start that list I have loads to do :D

1) Fit 13" wheels (CXR's ordered, ZZR's will follow)
2) Drop engine by 1/2" so the bonnet sits right

Did have other aspirations like getting the head flowed/port matched, ARP bolts, etc. but we'll see how that goes ;)

What car do you have and what size wheels did you run and what size brakes do you have :)
