Striker Rear Wishbones

Postby w4lrus » Sat Jan 04, 2014 6:39 pm

I finally got back into the garage today, after nearly a year out with other priorities, and I started to fit the rear suspension.

I am struggling to get the wishbones and uprights all bolted together - the passenger side is better than the drivers side, but in both cases one of the wishbones ends will not line up with its bracket and bolt. The lower wishbones only fit one way, and I have tried flipping the top wish bones over, but still no joy.

If I fit the wishbones and then the uprights the top of the upright is 1/2" is too far forward or back, depending on which way I put the top wish bone in. Either way, I cannot get the bolt in, even after playing with the adjustments on the wishbones.

I am assuming that I should not be brute forcing everything into place, as that would leave the components under tension, which does not seem like a good idea to me...

Has anybody else had this problem with the Phoenix or the Striker, or am I being an idiot, or do I have a problem with my chassis mount points  ?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Well, I tried again today, this time with no washers and 12mm bolts for maximum amount of 'wiggle room', but still no success :(

I have emailed some pictures to Raw, so I hope they can shed some insight.

Final update, if anybody else struggles with this, and stumbles across this thread.

Raw sent out some new uprights, with subtlety different geometry. These fitted, although they are still sto the extreme rear of the lower wishbone bolt, different from the manual pictures. However, I can now continue with the build.

I have this to do on my RAW Striker in a few weeks time....but mine has been previously built and then stripped down for a complete rebuild so I am not expecting any issues like you had ;)
