Insurance Time

Postby AndyHamp » Fri Sep 06, 2013 8:47 am

Good day all,

I was wondering if anyone else has notices a quite significant jump in insurance premiums this year ?

As a consequence, i was wondering in anyone can recommend a broker/company to get a quote from ?

Thanks ... Andy

Try CAITHNESS & CO speak to GEOF MACE or try PICKLES who MattD uses --- or I'm with GREENLIGHT for my Alfa , they only insure modifieds so assume people that do it are more interested in looking after their cars , hence lesser risk so they tell me ;)
Good luck :)

Frank Pickle,

Join SKCC (http://southernkitcars.com/forum/viewto ... f=7&t=1308) then you can use their discount code.

You may be happy ( or happy'ish ) with your present insurer, but when the time comes to renew i'd suggest at least a call to to these guys to see what they can do, and remember - you MUST mention SKCC to get the extra discount! AND ITS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ASK TO SPEAK TO BARRY WILSON....HE'LL DEAL WITH YOU AND APPLY THE DISCOUNT!
They may request proof of membership, if so please tell me immediately and i will contact them to confirm that indeed your are a member of the Club.

I'm with Frank Pickles, just renewed my 2ltr turbo Stylus, 3K miles, 2xSP30 (6 points), - £155.
I got a quote & applied online the first time (2011) and there was a discount code for selecting Sylva Register membership (ie DwindlingDot era) in a drop down menu.
Have now renewed twice with no price hike - actually reduced by £30 this year by accepting the brokers revised quote & changing actual insurer.

I have my Volvo Est with Caithness, would have the Stylus with them too (excellent broker service), but Geoff wasn't competitive price wise on forced induction. Might be worth a shot though !!

Thanks guys .....

Spoken with a number of brokers now and got prices between £120 and £190, with the majority between £140-£150. (still waiting for a couple to come back to me).

Interestingly when I spoke to my current brokers, the reason for the significant increase in price, is because they now have a number of add on's in the price that aren't obvious until you read through all the small print. Turns out the premium is actually only £1 more than last year, which IMHO is a bit naughty. It's also the case that most of these policies are through Highway, so no idea why they differ quite so much.

The cheapest I've not head of before ("2gether Kits & Classics ") and have asked for more information about the policy because it seems too cheap.

A lot of people had recommended Frank Pickles but they came out as one of the more expensive.
