Cockpit Cover

Postby deecee » Fri Dec 14, 2012 11:32 am

Does anyone know of an outfit that can make a fitted cockpit cover, for a J15, that will keep the water out while it is being towed? I am near Oxford so hopefully not too far away.
Cheers David

Soft bits for Sevens is the only people I'm aware of. Not close to Oxford though.

Jill Judd / SB47's has my vote too..

alternatively....
Not used him myself but Nev Powell has recommended Trevor the Trim in Farnham to me in the past - http://www.autoinsider.co.uk/local/car-trimmers-and-upholsterers/ai_34912.php
(not to be confused with Trevor the Trim in Accrington it seems)
The autoinsider website shows more trimmers by county - 4 in oxfordshire, & 7 in Bucks. http://www.autoinsider.co.uk/local/car-trimmers-and-upholsterers.php

Problem with wanting it to keep water out while towing is that it depends how fast you tow when it's raining really hard. The front and side wrap around screen means that a cover fixed onto the bodywork at cockpit level would shoot water towards the front screen then run underneath , unless driving very fast . OK for a shower but not heavy rain. Best plan is a cover to fit over the rear body then just the depth of sides and front screen ---- plus press studs low down on the screening or just onto the bodywork.
I know a good car trimmer just 8 miles out of Tring towards Dunstable -- HUKES , they did my Stylus carpet etc when first built --- see you Sunday and perhaps find their address by then. I know where it is but no postal address or tel number
