One of the reasons why I'm happy to live in the east of England: no hillclimbs.....

Fraser, from the Westfield SCC last weekend. God bless cages.....

First time I've seen anything of that hill and can't see the fun in it at all. With so little margin for error or, as in this case, the effect of the elements I just can't see the point. Don't think you would get very good odds for just getting to the top in one piece in less than perfect conditions.

Prescott 25th & 26th June.

Three Sylva’s on show at Prescott last weekend, a Sylva Riot (R1 engine), John Bradshaw’s Striker and of course our Striker.

The weather was nice all weekend, especially the Sunday which was stunning.

Saturday was practice day and started with the track still being a bit damp from 'Pardon' all the way up to the top, but this had dried out by the time the cars had completed their first practice run. We got a further two practice runs, with the times steadily coming down, and it looking as though it would be a close battle between the Strikers. :D

We enjoyed a nice meal on Saturday night in the bar at Prescott and walked it off with a stroll up the hill to see where we could ‘find’ some time. During our walk Jim and I witnessed the sight and sound of a Spitfire having a bit of a play in the sky above. 8-)

Sunday was ‘D’ day with clear blue skies, a huge crowd and two timed runs. John Bradshaw was first up as he was running with the ‘A’ licence brigade and recorded a time of 47.50. Next up was the Riot which went up in 50.90. Shortly after it was my turn and I managed a 46.95, Jim then went up and promptly beat me with a 46.64, ’game on’

After the first of the days top twelve run offs came our final timed run. Once again John ran first and ‘banged in’ a 46.97, the Sylva Riot improved to a 50.58 to win its class. I managed to improve to a 46.79, (2nd in class) which left Jim off the hook to take it ‘easy’ on his final run to record a 46.66 and take the class win.

And to top off a fantastic weekend the memorial flight of a Lancaster bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane went past at low level later on in the afternoon. 8-)

Jim is next out at Three Sisters, but my next outing is not until Loton Park on the 14th August.

Hi

3 Sisters Update 6/7th Aug.

Bit of a mixed weekend weather wise made everybody a touch nervous as 3 sisters is notoriously slippy when wet as its used a lot for 2 stroke karting so lots of oil!
But although both days started out a bit soggy some very clever juggling by the Chester MC folk saw us all get plenty of runs in pretty much dry conditions - or not raining at least!

In the road going kits, Bryan Hartshorne was out on the Saturday in his Mojo, and a couple of Westfields turned up too to make a competitive weekend of it.

Managed to bag the class win on both days, with new class track records too, though Sunday's wasn't until timed run 3, so that won't count to the championship bonus point times :(
More importantly both Richard Abraham (westfield) and I got in amongst the single seaters in the overall listings, 3 sisters being very much a handling circuit! :D

If you've never been it may not look much and certainly it's not photogenic like Prescott, but it's a great laugh, suits our cars really well and you normlly get loads of goes, what more could anybody want.

Well done, nice to see both of you leading in the Midland Speed Championship class, and is it still overall? Coming to Loton on Sunday to do my first ever hillclimb and have been put in a class with 2 litre cars, so hope to gain experience. Will come and have a chat.

Good luck with your trip up Loton on Sunday - fingers crossed for a dry track.

May see you there (spectating only :D )

MIRA today with the Nottingham Sports Car Club. Jim and Dave, where were you? First, second and third in class 2A were covered by a total of 0.05 seconds! With you guys there, it could so easily have been five of us within that margin ;)

Sorry David, Jim was at Loton on Saturday and I didn't get back off holiday until 10pm Saturday night! I managed to get a couple of hours sleep before going to Loton on the Sunday.

Jim recorded class wins on both days at Loton with a best time of 57.09 on Saturday and 56.86 on Sunday. I took second in class on Sunday with a 57.33 and Richard Abraham was third in his westfield on 58.08.

Not as close a finish as MIRA, but a really good day. I was really pleased with my time on Sunday as I have not sat in the car since Prescott over a month ago! although not as pleased as Jim was at going sub 57!

Next outing is at Anglesey on September 3rd & 4th.

Regards,

David.
