Niggles

Postby Yazza54 » Sat Nov 06, 2010 5:07 pm

A few niggles..

1. Digidash.... keeps throwing random numbers at me. Only seems to be able to give a steady mph when driving at a steady speed...if I hoof it, it just throws all random numbers up at me and this also sends my gear indicator doolally. If I let off the noisy pedal it settles again.. any ideas why this is? Guessing the pickup had come loose or something?

2. Frigging diff mount is cracked. I've barely even given it a hard time... It's one of the top two that drop down to the freelander diff....any pics of how people have strengthened theirs??

Cheers, Ryan

Hi Ryan,

The two problems will be related. If the diff mount is cracked then the diff will move slightly, meaning that the prop will be moving slightly under power, and that the pick up magnet on the prop is moving out of the range of the sensor. That's why on a steady throttle it's working and stops when you hoof it.

I had the lower diff mounts & wishbone brackets strengthened in 2008 and the upper left diff mount reinforced before the Alps trip. The bottom of the upper mount had worn through where the both goes through (badly designed), so I had a whole new 'bracket' welded over the top.

I'll call tonight to find out more. The missus is working all day Saturday so if you want a hand with anything I'll come over.

Cheers, Ian

Ian,

This might be a good time to pitch the "extended warrantee"

It's not Ians fault, I must just be too much of an animal! Hahah

Oh, anyone know what the header tank is off? Says ford on it but dunno which car. Fancy an ally one. Also...are the front uprights sierra or cortina? I've asked Ian before but I have a memory like a bloody sieve!

Cheers :)

I think the Westy ones are cortina. There used to be some ally Sierra ones available but they tended to break so you can't get them any more.

Those certainly look the same as mine and the cortina ones look totally different. Must be up to the job if Westfield are using them
