J15

Launch:             2009

Completely new for 2009 the J15 returns to familiar territory. An open top two seater full bodied mid-engined sports racer evoking the classics of the sixties.

The chassis is a development of the Riot but offers a more accommodating cockpit and side intrusion framework. Suspension is exactly as the Riot but with suitable donor cars becoming difficult to source both cars are being upgraded to utilize “off the shelf” suspension uprights. The rear upright is in-house fabricated and the front uprights are those used by another famous marque but originate from the ancient Triumph Herald. The GRP body has fixed centre section and sills with forward hinging one piece bonnet and rear hinging one piece rear section. Engine options are as ever varied but only the Ford Sigma is recommended. A full wrap-around Perspex fly screen and headlight covers are options. For a variety of reasons this model went through several name changes.

When objections were expressed to the final choice “Sylva Shindig” it was decided that sadly it would be the only Sylva without a label! Editor’s Note: JP will always call it a Shindig, as will this author, see my article in The Proper Job Feb 2009.
