Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
Just trying to keep JP cars flag flying in the Midlands, I managed a 36.2 for one lap of Curborough today at the Grahan Hill Memorial Sprint. Only JP car there, but it allowed me to finally win the class. I'm sure some of you could manage a better time, but rather pleased to have knocked 9 seconds off my time since March when I did my first run
. Some of the improvement is due to advice from this forum, so many thanks.

That's a damn good time for a Curborough single lap . In fact my last single there in 2005 was the same as Alan Wood's at 36.24 sec's ---- not in my class but the '' WOODS '' were always a good benchmark

Sounds like a good candidate for a family afternoon out on Father's Day...!
Will see if the wife & kids agree... Means leaving the Mojo at home unfortunately.

Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
Guys what the situation for sprinting / hillclimbs on belts at the moment in the Roadgoing kit car classes. I have Willans 4X3 2inch belts in mine. Blue book seems to only define 3 point belts like a standard tintop diagonal and lap arrangement and not as I have where the two harness chest straps are joined fixing around a single horizontal bolt on the rear of the top seat back chassis rail.
Furthermore do the date restrictions apply as in race series or stage rallying, they are 11 years old.but unmarked.
Thanks
Paul.

On belts, date restrictions definitely apply, mine are checked every time!

You missed something Neil. Great weather, slick organisation, excellent company, some remarkable driving*, wonderful day overall.
The two JPSCs acquitted themselves well on balance.
On the negative side, we were last (me, first time ever I think), last but one (Chris, double driving my car) and last but two (Nigel Cresswell -- 1400cc Hayabuse Fury on slicks) in the class the WSCC chose to put us in.
On the positive side, our times (31.97s for Nigel, 33.09s for Chris, and 33.12s for me) were perfectly respectable, even if Chris and I are sure there's a "32" hiding in the car if only it were a little better driven.
Even more positively, the 14 road-going Westies under 1800cc on 1B tyres (a couple with screens, by far the majority without) produced best times between 33.41s and 38.87s -- so Chris and I (1600 road-going Striker, aeroscreen, 1Bs) were very much on the pace of the equivalent machinery. A cynic might say this is why non-Westies aren't allowed to play on equal terms
Video link will follow soon.

New Curborough lap records:
Modified Kit, Replica, Space Framed and Non-Ferrous Chassis Cars up to 1800cc
20/06/2010 Phil (Barney) Newall Westfield SE/Blade 31.09s
Also WSCC Competition Secretary Nick Algar (who, purely by coincidence, is also reigning British Sprint Champion) brought along his Gould GR55 simply to try to lower the outright course record. He did, twice, finishing on 26.69S!! What must it feel like to accelerate out of the Fradley hairpin sufficiently hard to cross the line at 141mph? (Anyone who has never driven Curborough will need to ask someone who has whether that is impressive.)
