I think i may give sprinting a go next year. I have been to Abingdon to watch a couple of times and it looks a good day out. Living near Oxford i am not quite sure which would be the best club/area to look at joining, any ideas ?
If anyone is doing one soon could i tag along and see how it all works ?
ps havent told the other half yet

Fairly comprehensive list of motor clubs can be found at:
http://www.ukmotorsport.com/uk_clubs.html
Most (though probably not Fuddy Muckers) will be able to provide you an entry to sprinting. As I've mentioned before, any MSA affiliated club membership will get you an entry to the SBD BARC Speed Championship (http://www.barc-speed.org.uk/). As you know, in the absence of a dedicated and affiliated club for JP designed cars, I sprint with the Westfield SCC (http://www.wscc.co.uk/) -- these are a friendly lot, and run a very good sprint series (the WSCC Speed Series) in which any member can compete. The only catch is that, whilst you will compete against the Westies in the "class on the day" for pots, they are too afraid of being beaten to allow non-Westies to compete for championship honours (I've never found this much of a disadvantage).
The other alternative is to lobby for the JPSC Club to affiliate.....................

Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
Thinking about what I just wrote, if anyone wishes to give sprinting a try next year and is prepared to do some of the same events as me (see the WSCC and B19 calendars for the range of venues), I'd be delighted to mentor them through their first few events.

Likewise , if anyone joins the FDMC or BARC or in fact any of the 100 plus clubs that form the ACSMC -- association of central southern motor clubs . If Goodwood appeals then I'd be happy to help/advise on entry and the circuit itself or any other courses in the ACSMC championships. I've been to most of them between 2000 and 2009 chasing points and pots

This is something we have talked about. We need someone to volunteer to join the committee and run this side of things though .............

I would definately have a go next year, so if it can be done with a JPSCC link, all the better. I am near Oxford so can do the most of the south.

I didn't realise you were that close to me , we should meet and chat it through. I'm in Aston Clinton , just south of Aylesbury. You may like to come with me on an event in 2010 to sus out the day and how it goes . The Tempest Rally is looming so perhaps you could marshal with me and pick up more info

I think

Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
I went to watch my first sprint on Sunday as a guest of David and Chris Hussey at Barkston Heath . First I'd like to say a big thank you to David and Chris for an excellent day out and its certainly got us raring to give it a go next year
We even got a passenger ride round the course at the end of the day
It was nice to see how an event runs from the competitors side rather than just a spectator . It looks like some of the more experienced JPSC members are more than willing to help us newbies make a start into motorsport and its really nice to see a good club spirit forming. It will be nice to have a fellow member at an event for moral support even if nothing else. Having said that the whole paddock at Barkston were all friendly and willing to answer our numbie questions
The only problem I can see is pedalling a car as fast as David or Chris can
. It does show what our cars are capable of doing though when well set up and driven even better
The only car faster than them yesterday was a Hayabusa powered Jedi running on slicks
Hopefully David or Chris will put a link up to some of the videos from yesterday
I think we'll be trying to register for Barkston Heath next year which may be near enough for you ( its near Grantham ) if you're interested in joining us ? I think we'll give this a go as its a nice relaxed day with loads of runs during the course of the day . In the first instance we'll be double driving a V8 Striker
We've going to need all the practice we can get
I'd definitily recommend taking Rob up on his very kind offer , if you learn half as much as we did yesterday it'll be a day well spent . Be warned it looks addictive
