Hi Kevin
That looks like a Ford "English" axle on the back, the 'fins' and bolt pattern would suggest so, they were common on the Escort and come in various ratio's.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes . . .

I measured the PCD today and as near as I can tell it is 108mm which is a figure I have seen before. I presume this was only carried out for the fitment of different wheels and doesn't impact on the calipers used? Heres a couple more photos

The discs look standard Vauxhall magnum 10inch, certainly look just like mine, so yes shouldn't affect the calipers. It's good to see that the hubs have been specifically made rather than the Vauxhall ones being re-drilled for the ford fitment.

It's one of the problems I inherited with my Sylva Star a previous owner spent a tidy sum having some alloys made up, but had them for a 100mm PCD rather than 101.6 an it is amazing that a 1.6mm difference has meant that the alloys have been stressed and the hub bolts/studs pulled in so that the rear drum does not come off.

Based on the words in the advert I am guessing it's original ID more than likely resides on another vehicle now.

Car was road legal but is competition car only now!

Hi kevin.
I had a similar issue with my leader!
I could see where the VIN plate WAS but it was nowhere to be seen.
after taking it for an MOT, the tester looked with me for a while trying to find it so he could test it.
After a lot of wasted time I took it home and had to wait for the v5 so I could find the number.
the day after it finally came I took it back down to get it tested and my smart ass girlfriend started to peel the leather belt (acting as interior trim) back on the inside of the car, the bit you have to step over to get in.
there it was!!!... the number was stamped in, upside down and painted over!

Would it be worth checking there?? You never know :)

Hi,
Not been on here for a while but that doesn't mean I've given up! Been busy trying to sort out some electrical problems on another car but I think that may be resolved now so I can do some work on the Leader.
I have however accumulated quite a few bits and pieces when I have seen them at the right price.
The front calipers were the best result, I picked up a bare pair from ebay just ten miles down the road for 16 pounds. The pistons and seals etc I picked up for a total of about 60 pounds delivered. All I need for the brakes now are the pads, does anybody know what the part number is?
I also have carbs, fuel pressure regulator, electric fan and exhaust amongst other things so I am looking forward to a good session in the garage.

Regards
Kevin
