Misfire

Hi guys, I seek your help!
Clipped the inside wheel quite hard on a curb and now have a misfire. Coincidence or could it have thrown the timing?
It's a golf gti kr 1.8 engine

Turns out it might be the fuel pump. well its gone pop anyway so a new one is on its way.

Bit of a longshot for an answer BUT ------------- if you were running very low on fuel then you hit the kerb really hard then it's just possible that no fuel was available for a few seconds and fuel pumps don't like running dry , I'm assuming your on trottle bodies :?:

It's on carbs (twin 45 Dellortos) Rob. I don't think it was tooooooo low on fuel but it was a very sharp uphill left hand hairpin with a fast uphill straight just before. I caught the inside left rear like a dumb a**.

You might have a point tho because about half a mile down the road (maybe less) it starting sounding rough. luckily I was just around the corner from home.

Maybe I should do something with the tank as I'm contemplating hill climbing it next year.

If you were going to trailer it hillclimbing then I'd have the Midget tank out and fit a small volume ally tank -- mine's 2.5 gallons filled with foam plus the exit pipe sits in a 1/2 pint size circular cup welded underneath --- it also has the hole from tank to cup smaller than the cup which if you ever change to throttle bodies will stop fuel starvation during cornering. If you also use large bore fuel pipe out and return/8 to 10mm's , plus fit the injection fuel pump immediately under the tank/cup THEN no fuel tank in the engine bay is needed --- saving tank and extra pump :P Just planning ahead :?:

Thanks Rob, my fault as you know.
Fitted the new pump today and although she sounds better (sat on my drive. No time for a run out) she's still not 100%. Will tinker a little more.
