I do wonder at the legality of it.

Why would it be illegal - no one wonders about the legallity of pattern parts for every main stream automotive manufacturer - why would it be any different at all for a minorty manufacturer?
The main reason nose cones and wings and panels for small volume marques are not available from numerous other sources is that its just not worth the effort and expense of getting moulds made for a total production of half a dozen parts over 3 or 4 years when the manufacturer is generally not much more expensive anyway.
I dont see the issue if Micha wants to offer a bonnet even if its the same as a current one - cant see much of a market for it in the UK as it would be far more expensive than going direct to the manufacturer - However if it's a type no longer made and someone wants a hideous chin type adorment full marks for any effort to make it available.

Interesting the legality of pattern parts is more contentious than you think.
A good summary in this article:
http://www.hg.org/articles/article_1297.html
The position seems to be that to copy is wrong, to make it different (like your lovely bonnet Mr Darkspeed) is absolutely fine.
All rather academic in this context.

Does not appear to be a problem in this case as the unregistered design right period would have expired anyway. If I read it correctly you could fully copy it as a spare part as it is no longer in production.
To be honest if you were going to produce a replacement bonnet - why would you copy any of the hideous production efforts. Likewise if you did produce a boneet that looked similar to the all the different versions from the many different manufacturers - which one would actually have the right to try an sue you - Tiger?
Intersting subject though

why should it be illegal to sell a bonnet which is non-available and the design rights (if there ever had been any) are already expired?
to repeat: the re-fabricated bonnet would be the one with the front valance...so totally differnt to the one RAW is using on their cars.
we do not want to make big profit with it. we need the bonnets for our cars and we thought that our "idea" might also be helpfull for other ownes of "older" sylva´s.
and if it would help us to re-finance, step by step, the costs for the mould, we wouldnt be un-happy.
