BEC reverse gearbox

Postby MattD » Sat Mar 16, 2013 1:51 pm

Hi All

Got introduced to a guy in Guildford yesterday who's been building a BEC Fury for quite a while.
Hopefully he'll sign up & be on here shortly.

He has a carb 'blade engine in a live axle Fury Spyder.
Not far away from being completed, but has fallen foul of the SVA >> IVA changes, most significant of which is the need for a proper reverse.

So the question is... What's the alternatives for reverse setup with a live axle ?
Not having any direct experience of BECs myself, thought I'd ask you lot.

The Quaife & MNR gearboxes are available, but how reliable are they in reality ? Operator feedback please :-)
Any photos or weblinks that could be posted ?

Cheers.

Matt.
(& note to self, must blag that ride with Lee / Jim)

I know that Steve at Fury SC fitted a Quaife to a customer car recently and it had a vibration out of the box. Steve had to change it for a unit he already had and Quaife where not very helpful (they wanted to charge to repair the new unit).

a quick google search

Are the IVA people happy with an electric reverse? Steve at Fury Sports Cars would help I am sure. http://www.furysportscars.co.uk/
