Mojo back on the road at last...

Postby NeilEverett » Wed Jan 30, 2013 1:32 pm

10 months after my engine expired (cam belt tensioner failure) and I am back on the road - MOT just passed, tax to follow on 1st Feb. I am a happy bunny :D

Brand new 2.0 zetec now sits in place of the old 1.8, mated up to an iB5 gearbox with hydraulic clutch and custom gear linkage. The 10 mile drive to my preferred MOT testing station went fine, engine running really nicely despite running on an arbitrary scaling of the old injection map, clutch extremely light (stiffer return spring needed I think!), gear linkage snickety-snick! Almost feels like I have a new car...

Some pics of the rebuild here: http://photobucket.com/mojo_engine_upgrade

Now to choose where to use the free Javelin trackday I won last October! Need to use it by the end of April, but need to get the engine mapped and run in first...

About bloody time! :D

How late are you thinking of leaving the track day? I quite fancy the Javelin day at Blyton at the end of April. Weather should be better by then.

Daily-ish driver for the time being I think! I was given an old 306 diesel (non-turbo!) estate back in Sept so that will be used during any really bad weather, but not sure how long I can justify hanging on to the Pug...

On the trackday front, I am planning on one of the April events, but was thinking of Bedford possibly... closer for me... but open to suggestions from the list: http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/

Nice work Neil !

And no winter using the mojo anymore or you can do the same work over a few years again :D

I'm now verry busy with the new wiring loom.
Engine is on his place and alloy gearbox parts will be wet blasted, so it will be as new ;)
