My J15 has passed its test at the first attempt. Examiner Doug Sharpe, who had a hand in building a Fury a few years back, could not have been more helpful at the Leighton Buzzard VOSA Station.
A word of warning - a revision to the IVA Manual in April this year defined "missing windows", as a cause for failure. If, as I believe others may have done, you fit a screen and take it off for the test because materially it does not meet the standard, then the row of holes left will probably be evidence of said "missing window" and cause a fail. The answer of course is not to fit the screen until after the test.

Thanks Simon, no panics over the straps. When does the single seater arrive and will you be out in it this year?

Re: IVA Success
well done David,
Doug is a really nice guy isn't he (if a bit obsessive about edge radii).
Hopefully the weather will improve for you.

Thanks Matt, no real issues over edge radii, however I am sure there was plenty that could have gone wrong in the hands of a jobs worth. As you say Doug is a decent chap allowing me to adjust the headlamp aim with his assistance during the test and offering to adjust the speedo calibration himself if necessary. Touch of the John Lewis/Waitrose service standards.

Great that it's passed first time David --- it's going to attract a lot of atttention on track in 2013 with it's nice 'little' Duratec behind the pilot

Nice one! How did it feel to drive?
Does anybody know how many there are on the road now? I've only actually seen Jeremy's car, when he came to Stoneleigh in it, a couple of years ago.

Re: IVA Success
I have already done a shake down track day a month or two back mainly to see what fell off or leaked. Did not really go for it on track but certainly nothing untoward handling wise. Standard seats (cheapest way to get through IVA) not very supportive for circuit use so I shall mould myself a foam seat for sprinting.
Not sure how many out and about on the roads but Tim Hoverd races one in the RGB series and Paul Collingwood likewise in Sports Specials.
