Best of 48.35s -- which is over a second faster than I've ever achieved in a timed run at Aintree before, and turned in 16th FTD of 120+ competitors. Still well beaten by the brutally powerful Puma-engined Westie of John Loudon (in truth, he's no slouch at driving it either 8-) ) which produced a best of 46.98s (13th FTD).

Other sub-1700cc kits came in with times of 52.08s (Martin Walker), 54.26s (Andy Taylor), 56.34s (David Kirkham), 60.43 (Bill Stevenson) and 70.97s (Carol Stevenson).

Unusually, a kit-car beat the single seaters to FTD -- Kurt Ramsden in his 5.0 Rover V8 Westie (43.88s).

On the basis of Saturday's experience, I'm fairly sure there's a 47s run in my car (and driver) given a bit more practice -- but getting into the 46s bracket might be a real challenge.

P.S. Full results available at http://www.liverpoolmotorclub.com/files ... e-2012.pdf
P.P.S. I got thrown out of Class 2A and into Class 3F for not running a windscreen -- northerners are like that ;)

Sounds very impressive David , you must be pleased with that result :?:

I don't think any of us like being beaten, Rob. But, on balance, the result made the almost six-hour journey each way  feel worthwhile.

If so, he was quite heavily disguised ;)

Rather large irony

As I said earlier, I was removed from Class 2A (road-going kit cars up to 1700cc) for not running with a windscreen, and unceremoniously bundled into 3F (Modified Kit, Replica & Spaceframe Cars up to 1700cc).

Finding myself alone in that class, I did my 48.35s and duly came last.

When the results came out I noticed that the class record for the track was 44.24s and had stood for twelve years. It was attributed to a driver of a "5.0 TVR Tuscan Speed 8". Because I'm pedantic, I dropped an email to Liverpool Motor Club pointing out that I thought the class record might well stand for a further twelve years, and that I suspected that there had either been an administrative error or that the Tuscan driver might have told just the tiniest fib about his engine capacity.

Result: I receive thanks from LMC, and am told that the error has been corrected -- and I am now the holder of the class record for the Aintree circuit  -- This despite the fact that I would have been well beaten had I stayed in Class 2A.

Funny old game . . . .

If you came '' last '' against the guys in the class you were moved to --- how come one of them didn't become the '' class '' record holder :?

All very biblical, Rob -- the first shall be last, and the last shall be first. I was simply both.
