I did ask a marshall if I could wear it and he said yes but if I was in fire I would end up as a big plastic ball. I think my only saving grace is that it does look like a race suit when on and sat in the car.

we will have to see but I think it is going to be wet!!

Good luck. Trying to pilot a powerful kit-car competitively around Goodwood in the wet comes quite high up my "scary scale" :roll:

Hi All,

Jim and I both wear kart wet suits when it is raining, and we have had on occasions been told to take them off. Usually it is Jim that is asked to remove his wet suit as it is clear, where as mine is the same colour as my race suit and is less noticeable. On the rare occasion I have been asked to remove my wet suit I have refused.

When talking to the MSA about this problem, we were informed that for "Speed Events" as long as the race suit label on the collar of your suit is visible and your nomex gloves are under the cuffs of your wet suit, you are fine!

This is the line I have used when asked to remove my wet suit.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that you are not allowed under any circumstances, allowed to wear a wet suit when circuit racing.

and for some reason I get on quite well in the wet :o time will tell as I only got one run last time but am ready for another go.

I had a high speed off at Abingdon and need to get back out there to conquer my fear :lol: :lol: :lol:

Thanks for the support even if I didn't actually get to see you :-)
Had an awesome ride in the yellow MK2. And got a finish in my first rally as co-driver.
It was very slippy in the bomb dump, even before the late drizzle.
Very busy day, queue up, 12-15mins flat out on the stage, max 40 mins to get brain together, down some fluids, fix the car & do it all again... 8 times .. Non stop 9am to 5.30pm.
Had alternator not charging all day, so we had to recharge off jump leads to the van each time & get bump started in the Q.

Hope you saw plenty of action from the fence !!

And.... Where was your off then ? Underpants washed yet ;-)

Yeah was at the fence :D watching you all come drifting through. Does sound like a long day, a guy from work was a marshal in the middle of the runway and was bright red today :lol:

the off was known as a Jeff moment :) it was on the last left hander on the Abingdon course. I watched Jeff's off video at about 80mph and decided I could go faster :mrgreen: . I was in 5th and must have been doing way over 80 but as soon as I turned in it was all over :o made the mistake of letting off as decided i could not hang on to it and went across the line sideways.

Rob then tells me it is a 4th gear corner :)

back to you though, it sounds like you had a great day. I must admit it looked great. you are a braver man than me to sit in the passenger seat.

Some of the chicane entries were an eyeopener.
Literally, slight lift, choose ur line, power on, miss object by fag paper.
We got back from one with drivers door mirror folded back into new dent in the door :-)
The guy running 4th late on was on the road in front of us, clipped the pallet, bent the wing & broke suspension corner, = retired !

No time to think about that though, my job was to keep talking about the next corner or two, whatever might have just gone on.

Just following up on the 'wet suit' query. In the April /May edition of 'Speedscene' Paul Parker states in his 'Technical and Otherwise' column that with regard to wet suits "you cannot be prevented from wearing what you wish to protect you from the rain"

I hope that clears the issue up for people.
