My trailer for the "Road Going Kit-Car under 1700cc" class at Pembrey was: "On SaturdayJim and David Spencer will be renewing the battle against the Westfields of John Palmer and John Loudon in the <1700cc CEC class. It finished DS/JS/JP at Silverstone and JP/JS/JL/DS (covered by a second or so) at MIRA. Plenty to play for."

And it lived up to expectations.
On the Saturday, David Spencer was victorious with a very good run of 115.46s, beating Jim, John P and John L by less than a second.
On Sunday, John L managed almost to match David's time of the previous day with a 115.69s run, but was not able to hold the others. Jim was fastest on a spectacular 114.48s, and was followed by John P and David who were both within a tenth of a second of him

Chris and I had a torrid time. I'm pleased to say that it's not too often that we have to admit to finishing last-but-one and last-but-two in class, but today we must. We finished the meeting with best results within 0.2s of each other at about 118s We could, of course, be honest and lay the responsibility with the drivers -- but that would be no fun, so we'll blame gear-change difficulties and tyre woes.

Great weekend though -- worth the 630 mile round trip. Roll on next year.

Jim and I had a great time at Pembrey,it is a fantastic circuit and the weather held out for us as well.

I have been looking at the splits on TSL, and my first split is way down on the others, but I make the time back on the flying lap. I had a look at the Anglesey splits and they confirm the same thing. I now realise, why I get some confusing and disapointing results on the one lappers!

Note to self: "don't wait for the flying lap, pull your finger out immediately"

Next event is Anglesey this weekend, one lap of the international circuit on Saturday, two laps of the national circuit on Sunday. I can try my new technique out straight away!

Well the weather at Anglesey was a bit of a contrast at the weekend!

The weather on Saturday was glorious for one lap of the international circuit. I pulled my finger out to record a best time of 93.53 (class record) to take the class win, while Jim was miles away in second with a 93.58.

On Sunday the weather was horrible, it rained all day! The format for Sunday was two laps of the national circuit. I was feeling confident after Saturdays result and also because when it's wet I tend to beat Jim. Well, it didn't go to plan as Jim put in a final run of 148.02 to sneak ahead of my miserable 151.08

To put in to perspective how horrible it was, we were offered a final run, but turned it down.The windscreen wiper had failed and we couldn't see a thing. We were both soaked, even though we had kart wetsuits on. That is the first time we have ever turned an extra run down

Next stop Prescott on the 25/26th June.

I'm not so confident myself looking at my class mates My usual opposition plus an RX7 sporting a 5.7lt lump and a TR6 with a 3.9lt presumably both running slicks. Rain's forcast too

Glorious circuit Jeff, and simultaneously horrible.

The former because it's the Lords or Wimbledon of British motorsport -- just gorgeous.

The latter because it showed up the biggest ever speed difference between me and one of my kids. My best ever time is a 97.1 second run. A couple of minutes later, Guy jumped into my car and produced a time in the 91s. Deeply and
I requires just so much self belief.
