Re: Hillclimb & Sprinting
Jeff -- I think there was plenty of confusion over gears. Marmelade was driven by Chris (son 1) and Guy (son 2), both of whom are faster than I -- so I was in the Westy. Neither son had ever driven a BEC, or a sequential gearbox, or a flat-shifter. Some level of confusion guaranteed!
However, they seemed to get their acts reasonably together and finished the day (in best fraternal fashion) on 101.99s (Chris) and 101.97s (Guy).
Engine is a 1400cc Hayabusa.

David,
I think it's safe to say that the Strikers on show at Silverstone demonstrated that you don't require loads of BHP to be competitive
The new Silverstone Stowe complex is a really good venue and it will be an excellent event when the organisation irons out its problems
Jim and I were saying it was nice to see Guy back out in Marmelade.
Regards,
David.

For info -- David & Jim will be attempting to continue their dominance (demonstrated at Siverstone) over some of the the best sub-1700cc Westfields in the country (Johns Palmer and Loudon) at MIRA on May 14th.

By Eck that's a bit of a tall order..
We had a bit of an advantage at Silverstone as we went there last season, so apart from the chicane on the back straight roughly new where it went.
Never been to MIRA though, but we'll do our best!

Well....you will need to stay agog sadly. On the trackday on Thursday I sheared a stud on the rear axle which I have spent today replacing (and changing the radiator over). Had to cancel the RR session.

Well -- they failed (but only just). Considering that they had never been to MIRA before, being beaten (IIRC) by only two of the myriad of Westies (led by the irrepressible Mr. Palmer) was a very creditable achievement. I'll comment more when the final results are published.
Roger Slater also represented the Striker fraternity in "ModSpecProd", and (I think) won his class.
More later -- bed now, as it's Honington tomorrow
