Very good times , both of you ;) I can see the sequential helps too  They can't be feeling too pleased with themselves can they / WSCC that is  I'm trying to imagine braking down from 140mph into and round that right hander finishing lane  Be nice to find out aye :P

Rob

Hate to tell you -- it's an H-pattern, not a sequential.

All best

I mis-understood David , thought you said it was sequential when we chatted at Abingdon

Rob

We have a sequential (Elite IL200), but we broke it rather comprehensively at Honington at the start of the season. It's back on the garage floor, fully rebuilt -- but we'll almost certainly leave the über-reliable, agricultural, and heavy, SPC fettled Tran-X SL72 in the car until the end of the season.

Apols for any misunderstanding,

It's very interesting that you should say that because after removing my engine for various upgrades a few years back , I'd made up my mind to fit an ELITE box . Two good reasons --- lap time saved plus very easy gearbox removal via the cassette system. What stopped me was hearing of SBD's woes on track with that box , many times running with them at the same track and class . Never finishing a days sprinting and often not one run :!: I talked with Steve and the other drivers about the problem , also ELITE themselves more than once . They were blaming using the same ' bits ' in the type 9 box as their axle box which once realised was sorted. Another reason given was the steel being used came from CHINA and wasn't up to the job .I never found an explanation to give me confidence to buy one -------------- hence my ' H ' pattern Caterham/BGH improved box :( slow but reliable

Interesting. But for me if I were to spend some money and replace my Close ratio Mazdar box(very rare its out of an ex works GpB rally car) I would go for a quaiffe or Tran X.But I dont spend money and have an easier route and thats the centre section from a MX5 gives a longer 1st gear and c/r geras also. That still does not help you though but I thought I wuld share it in case some one saw the light and put a wankel in their engine bay.lol

Rob

The Elite is a very neat bit of kit, but it costs half of a Quaife. There's a reason for that.
Having said that, Mark Bloor is working hard to eradicate known failure modes -- and several of the Westies out on Sunday are running them successfully with up to 260bhp. And they are a joy to use!
Will tell you the story of mine when we next meet -- but it will go back in.

David

P.S. for Tuxedo: (IIRC) Tran-X don't make sequential boxes yet.

That sounds to me as though they've sorted it then or you would leave it out  I do agree it really is a nice bit of kit , especially not having to remove the engine to get at the box :) . I saw it on their stand at the Festival of Speed many years back.

Of course all looked much quicker that the array of westerhams , but I may be a little bias. ;)

Well done to all , as it must have been very hot in race suits today.
