Sorry I didn't make it up to Curbrough today, hope you had a good day!
You missed something Neil. Great weather, slick organisation, excellent company, some remarkable driving*, wonderful day overall.
The two JPSCs acquitted themselves well on balance.
On the negative side, we were last (me, first time ever I think), last but one (Chris, double driving my car) and last but two (Nigel Cresswell -- 1400cc Hayabuse Fury on slicks) in the class the WSCC chose to put us in.
On the positive side, our times (31.97s for Nigel, 33.09s for Chris, and 33.12s for me) were perfectly respectable, even if Chris and I are sure there's a "32" hiding in the car if only it were a little better driven.
Even more positively, the 14 road-going Westies under 1800cc on 1B tyres (a couple with screens, by far the majority without) produced best times between 33.41s and 38.87s -- so Chris and I (1600 road-going Striker, aeroscreen, 1Bs) were very much on the pace of the equivalent machinery. A cynic might say this is why non-Westies aren't allowed to play on equal terms

New Curborough lap records:
Modified Kit, Replica, Space Framed and Non-Ferrous Chassis Cars up to 1800cc
20/06/2010 Phil (Barney) Newall Westfield SE/Blade 31.09s
Also WSCC Competition Secretary Nick Algar (who, purely by coincidence, is also reigning British Sprint Champion) brought along his Gould GR55 simply to try to lower the outright course record. He did, twice, finishing on 26.69S!! What must it feel like to accelerate out of the Fradley hairpin sufficiently hard to cross the line at 141mph? (Anyone who has never driven Curborough will need to ask someone who has whether that is impressive.)
