Re: JPSC Trackday - Llandow - Sat 15th May 2010
Just got back, after a 4pm departure.
Had a great time as the Striker was performing really well. I also got a chance to play with the damper settings, and found some significant improvements in the corners and under heavy braking.
Weather was great. We had a few incidents, but I will let the relevant people tell the story
Pete

Do you mean me ?
All i did was run out of petrol ....
Actually that's not true ... i still had plenty of petrol in my tank, it's just the tank wasn't connected to the car any more

Amazing it is in one piece. Looks like the straps failed ?
Apart from that (!) did you all have a good time ?

well it's actually a bit second hand ...one corner is missing where it scrapped along the ground. Might be repairable .....
But yes one of the straps broke ... i think we'll have to find a more robust solution.

It was draining pretty quick when I came across it! Actually, gushing might be a better description
It was a great day and as always it was good to put a few more faces to names.

Awesome day and a great adventure
Thanks again Adrian for allowing me to chop up your tools to make a gearchange repair piece, and everyone for moral support and tool loans. It got me back and will be on the car for a long time before I get around to swapping to a larger bore cable as it is a damned good fix.
My list of things to sort out got a lot longer (swap head [maybe more] to fix oil usage, oil temp gauge, starter solenoid, electrical supply and demand issues when lights are on, gear change cable, brake balance, new tyres, learn to drive) on top of all the other things.
I did a controlled experiment with and without the ARB connected, and the difference was clear even to me, although I am not fluent in "set-up speak" it did seem to tame the understeer. Presently this is on the middle setting (hole 4 of 7, which is at a radius of about 5 inches), just because that is where I started.
An excellent day out, thanks Pete for organising it,
Matt
