Tyres

Postby kdempsie » Thu Apr 13, 2017 6:40 pm

Hello folks, I'm planning to make the trip from Aberdeen to Stoneleigh this year. Currently my J15 has Toyo R888Rs fitted but I do have a set of A021s too. I'm in two minds about whether I should get the tyres swapped to be better prepared for bad conditions on the longish trip.

Most of the forum chat l've read seems to point to OK wet performance with the R888Rs, does anyone have any experience of them in varied conditions?

Keith.

Drove to Portsmouth last year through a flooded dual carriageway and an afternoon of biblical deluge in France on R888R and they were OK. You have to take care but they don't aquaplane anywhere like the old ones. In France they gave me enough confidence to push on pretty quick.
How old are the 021's? If they're getting on a bit you might still be better off on newer rubber even if with less tread.

Thanks Adi, that's a good call about the tyre age, I better check the date codes.
