Spent today at the Lotus test track at Hethel. Lovely weather, great track but I had a few issues.
Practise one resulted in a pretty quick spin as the car was too stiff on the back and I braked 10m later than normal.

Then had issues with the front splitter which I had to take off....and in all the activity I forgot to check the fuel level which resulted in the car almost running out on the 2nd lap.

This is the first time ever that I've been allowed to film at Hethel so pretty rare footage...Still won the class but should have been well into the 120s

Might be just the video effect but that spin looked to go very early.

Car was too stiff on the back and I'd braked too late. Trying to turn in while trailing too much brake pressure.

Watching it again it looks like the back is coming around before you turn it (if the cameras are synced). Only viewing on my phone though.

Re: 7th August Hethel
I'm intrigued.
How do you read these things?
Do you do a full breakdown of your runs?
Can you compare info from the other drivers?
Are the brake and accelerator bars accurate? its just that it looks like youre on the brakes (hard) and the car goes sideways. Have you got the steering angle sensor? because you're only just off centre when it comes round.
I'd like to know how to interpret the data as i got the DL1 but its not plumbed in. Another winter job..... from two winters ago.
be interested to learn about it before i plug my one in.

There is a analysis program from Race Technology which shows all the logged channels. The G bars are accurate.

Looking at the data again it appears the back end locked, probable because I down shifted one too many times to 2nd gear...at 70mph.

Re: 7th August Hethel
Is that shift set-up or just need more practice? Would a bit less rear brake bias help?

Re: 7th August Hethel
I changed down at 70 into 2nd....rear bias isn't going to help when that happens. Need to look at the set-up of the GCU and restrict downchange timings a bit more
