If it goes, and I doubt it will, I'm looking for something like a Radical.

Had a ride in one at Zolder last year. Great car, really quick, epic braking and cornered like it was on rails... Just didn't seem to be any drama though. Have you seen the lifeing of components on them?

Yeap....25 hrs on a motor etc. But with pre-heaters 25hrs is like 4 seasons sprinting.

The thing that puts me off is not being able to take the front or rear off without help, the faff with loading/unloading it and the nonsense around tyres and wrapping them.

As I said I'm in two minds. It is unlikely that the Phoenix would sell for what is it worth (even if I advertised it properly !) so it is much more likely that I'll put the paddleshift system on, fit my Indycar ARB, sort out some splitters & diffuser and commission the traction control system. With the changes in the MSA rules I need to change the rear rollhop for an MSA approved one with back stays and I'm going to change classes so I can run slicks.

I think the unofficial owners club/forum has links on where to get the bits cheaper with different part numbers. Also the engine refresh doesn't have to be done by Radical.

Remember our mate whos gearbox blew up in the R1 and he got two very different quotes for the work. Similar thing.

@jeffw you not thought of moving the running gear in to say an SR2 or an AB Arion (both do full cages) and bung a cheap zetec into the phoenix to sell a working car?

could be a good opportunity to move to the darkside and build its as a bike engine car see if you like the reduced weight if not sell it.

you'd probably get more if you broke the car, I remember hearing of an escort cosworth that was broken for a lot more than the sum of its parts.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a SR2 and the Arion is designed for BEC only. If, and it is a big if, I'm going to move on it will be to an Aero car, something like a Jade/Nemesis or Radical, a prototype sports car looking.

As I said it is unlikely I'll find someone who will pay the dosh I'd want for the car.

I know this is a for sale thread, but whats wrong with an SR2. I thought the chassis was engineer designed and with a full cage its be nice and stiff.

Also with the cut down rack and long wishbones on the front the geometry would be quite good.

Whats wrong with them Im intrigued. They were supposed to be racing one but I haven't heard much, maybe im looking in the wrong place.

The only one I've seen close up is quite poor....the guy bought it new from them (as a complete car to his spec) and has had a number of issues. One of his wishbones collapsed under heavy braking at a drivers event I was doing, the car is less than 6 months old.
