Hi all joined the forum today and really chuffed with all the helpful hints and build advice iv already seen. My name is Dan and purchased a fury Sept last year and have just got it through a new mot however it's far from finished....I don't know whether the car is known on here but any history or knowledge of it would be massively appreciated.It was on pistonheads and images of it are still on Google it's black with silver stripes and a red interior I will try to post some pics asap.I purchased it as a bit of a project but had a good engine and some nice bits on.It has a independent rear suspension set up macpherson strut from the front of a mk2 golf . I am unhappy with the way the car currently drives and it bottoms out on the smallest of bumps I have read that the cars were recommended 130 springs and most change to 180 and I am trying to get some advice on this setup really and how many other s there are with this design. Think that will do for the minute any help or advice would be very welcome thanks Dan

Welcome aboard, post some pictures up of your Fury and I'm sure there will be advice flooding in on what to run spring wise.

Hi Dan,

i believe that most put the front springs on the back and then but 225lb springs for the front.

As for clicks on the shocks that's a matter of personal taste. I'm still playing, I have Protec shocks. I believe that they are set to the middle range. I'm running 1 click on the front and 5 on the back.

Thanks gents for the help and advice. Dave should the springs be stamped on with weight s or marked somewhere I have no idea whether the front would be 180 being honest it looks original I will check whether they will go on the strut damper and have a switch around. I will look to see if the protects are available as a strut type damper aswell thanks again for the help .

Perfect I'll check the spring rates asap that's great I'm trying to add some pics either to my profile or this post I'll keep at it thanks again anyone seen this chassis design on a fury before or have I acquired some kind of hybrid haha.

That sounds like one of the first IRS version that Mark Fisher made before the current double wishbone design. I've only seen a couple. The strut towers go up into the corner of the boot area? As it uses the Golf McFerson strut I don't think the front springs will fit the rear. Think there might have been issues with the geometry as well.

Funding this out at the minute chaps the strut is apparently from a mark two golf and the tower as said in the previous post runs up behind the seat. I spoke to spax today for a quote for replacing my dampers they are 180 each plus vat bit of a shock.....and the advice was spot on the rear spring were marked with a weight and length which I 100 pound and 9 ". Lookin into the front at the moment as really want to get her driving right and hopefully put in some track time. Thanks again for all the help.

theres a guy on low-cost builders who has a blog and his fury has the same rear set-up as yours. His name is Mark and is a nice guy so worth contacting him as he will help you with spring rates and set-up.
