Seized Rocker Bolt?

Hi All

I'm in the process of stripping my Striker but struggling to remove one of the front rockers. The rocker seems to be seized to the through bolt - they turn together and I can't remove the bolt. It was cold and dark last night so I stopped before doing any damage!

Is this a common problem and is there a way to remove it?

Dunno if its the same on the Striker, but on the Fury I hit the bolts out with a hammer. As they were long through bolts with a nut at one end. The rocker should rock on the metal crush tube thats crushed when the bolts are nipped up.

BUT

You might have the needle roller upgrade (i dont think its an upgrade).
In which case you had a threaded crush tube. In which case im out of ideas.

If the crush tube was put in dry you'll have problems but with patience and WD over the exposed small area visible , eventually it'll seep through to the tube/bolt seized . Put the nut back on the bolt but nyloc end first leaving just 3 or 4 mmm's thread showing . Get the chassis close to a wall or something that won't move then jam a log or piece of steel between the tower and wall (or you may bend the tower) THEN really hit that nut hard with a club hammer (have a piece of steel over the nut though before wholloping it !) Once it's moved , even 1 thread it'll go after a few sessions of hitting each end alternatively .
When you replace the bolts/inner sleeves , put plenty of lube inside the inner sleeves/bolts.

You'll have to sacrifice the bolt Wyn by hacksawing down through it either side of the rocker.
Pretty sue you wont have the roller bearing type so when the rockers removed press or bash the remnants out and probably fit new bushes for piece of mind.
Still available from RAW
I have new bolts here if you need ;)
I've also drilled mine underneath and fitted two grease nipples per side and give them a dose every so often.

It's out now! I put a long bar on the end of a socket to see if it would free. It snapped. Saved me trying to hacksaw it out I suppose! It'll need a rebuild anyway! Car is looking a bit sad and my garage a tad messy!

Building without greasing through bolts is tin-top industry standard ;)

The bushes (nylon?) do have a habit of siezing on the crush tube (at least on Fury's). Mine did it in just 12mths and they'd been well greased when fitted. I turned a shallow spiral groove in the bush and fitted grease nipples in the rocker. Grease goes through easily now.

That sounds like a cracking idea. Once I've got the chassis out of the way (off to be sand blasted and etch primed on Monday) I'll turn my attention to the great big pile of parts dotted around the place!
