Le Mans Classic

Postby MattD » Mon Feb 22, 2010 4:22 pm

Ferry now booked, so will be there. 8-)
Anyone else going (see that a few are on the sylva chatlist) ??

Can't wait to hear a flat-12 917 scream - and the cars are the same age as me :ugeek: !

Matt.

I'm hoping to make it. My brother has dropped out though, so I'm short of a passenger if anyone is interested.

Hoping to get on circuit camoing but it looks like you need 2 ocupants per car to get a camping permit, so passenger needed if thats the case.

I had thought of going early in the week and catching a couple of the early stages of the Tour de France on the way.

Dragging up an old thread here. I am contemplating the Classic in 2012 instead of the main race, and then catching some of the Tour de France.

What are the arrangements for the Classic - where is the best place to stay ?

Cheers,

Pete

Matt - see above.

I am thinking of taking the tin-top and bike, and seeing a couple of stages of the Tour before going down to Le Mans to catch up with my mate in his E-type.

I seem to remember you are a cyclist too ?

Hi Guys

Quite likely I'll be there too, either in the Stylus, or possibly with the Renault Alpine Club.

Went via the Chunnel & had the cross-France drive too.which I've down quite a few times now.

I stayed in a French families B&B/Gite, just south of Alencon in 2010 & drove down each morning.
Fun trek, & not much traffic (unlike LM proper), but still a bit of a pain.

Must start thinking about 2012 & book something closer.

Matt

(I also have a road bike, so could be up for TdF, but not seen the 2012 route yet)

TdF route here: http://www.letour.fr/us/index.html

2 stages into and out of Rouen just before the Classic.

Sounds like a nice plan coming together. Never seen the Tour, so sounds like a good excuse.
