Zetec Parts

Hi All

Now I've succesfully started my new turbo engine transplant, I've got some Zetec bits to part with.
Will offer them on here first, but will go on ebay if no interest.

Brand new, unfitted, LUKE Motorsport geared starter for Zetec / Type 9. - £120

Pair of genuine DUNNELL ZRV cams, 2nd hand, low mileage. - £250 the pair
New price £245 each +VAT.
Bought direct from Paul Dunnell, as used stock, with 2 sets of cam timing settings.
For Silvertop Zetec, running hydraulic tappets
Cam timing 1 can be run in a standard engine - will give around 180 BHP / improved torque.
Needs the cams timed properly with a timing disc, uprated springs recommended.
Cam timing 2 requires pocketed (standard Ford) pistons, uprated valve springs & verniers - will give around 190/200 BHP / much better torque.
Will give over 200 BHP with a head skim/compression ratio increase.
Needs an engine tuner to do the machining work - Dunnell recommended !

I also have a Silvertop, series 2, Zetec donor engine, complete. - £70 or offers.
2ltr, from a mondeo auto. Has the cylinder head removed.
Was split as I planned to rebuild with forged internals, & the above Dunnell cams.
Still has all the other Ford bits too if wanted - PAS, aircon pumps, inlet & exhaust manifolds, sump, etc

All parts in Lindford, Hants (GU35)- to be collected, or postage paid.

Can you tell me what flywheel the starter is designed for (zetec or pinto) ?

Hi Jeff

Was spec'd for a Raceline steel flywheel, which follows the Zetec ring gear pattern.

I was interested in the pinion throw distance. I have recently changed flywheels and have had to go from a LRS707 starter (short throw) to a LRS743 (longer throw) but it is the same pitch. The LRS743 is around 20mm throw (I think). If it is a longer throw version I'll have it.

Jeff , if you contact LUKEMOTORSPORT in AYLESBURY and talk to Luke himself , he'll tell you exactly what it will suit . Mine and Matt's came from him so he'll have records . He races an historic V8 at SPA and other venues and is a really nice guy.
My flywheel is from Raceline as is the ring gear.

Hi Jeff

Attached is a pic of the item.
Its different to the conventional crossflow type Ford starter, in that its pre-engaged.

Not having fitted it, I dont actually know - but looks to me that rather than the solenoid throwing the gear across into the ring-gear, as you describe for the two you mention, [think this one is in constant ring gear mesh with an internal clutch to provide the starter gear-drive when required. When not in use the starter is free running] - edit - I was wrong, see later post .
The adapter plates shown allow you to orientate the solenoid where you want it, then drill two holes to bolt it up. One is undrilled, the other pre-drilled.

I'll get the starter out of the garge tonight & have a proper look at the gear mech.

Rob has been using the same one on his sprint car for 5/6 years, no problems.

Right then...

Have to say I was completely wrong earlier ! :lol:
The starter does work in the conventional way & throws the gear across the gap.

But.. its not going to work for you Jeff - the throw is around 13mm (1/2") - so I presume its the short throw version.
Thanks for point out there are two types though :roll:

So it will work with a zetec flywheel and it the equivalent to the LRS707...
