BTS over the weekend with two Sylva cars, both Phoenix. Dave Edmunds was there with his MkIV Clubman Cossie engined beast with 650BHP, drag slicks and 109 octane race fuel and my little old thing.

Dave did a best time of 11.1 secs and I had to make do with 9th overall on a 11.37. Great fun as always....line locker to do the burn out correctly and slicks for next year.

11.46 last year, 11.37 this. The issue now is traction off the line, my 0-64ft times don't change much (2.3-2.4 secs) and the quick guys are 2-2.1 secs. Need sprint slicks to go quicker, there was a Westfield there with a very similar power output ( 2lt Duratec with a Rotrex) on slicks which did a 10.80 sec run in practise so that is where mine will be with A15 or A92 slicks on it.

Thought the button shift might have gained you a bit more. Did it breath any oil? I guess the run might be too short and straight to know for sure if thats fixed.

Not sure on the oil, certainly the TPS adjustment and a new set of plugs make it idle much better.

Yep that was the practise run. Sorry about the shaky cam at the end. I don't often do videos on the mobile and got a little excited.

Yep, enjoyable day even though I only stayed for about half of it. Luckily the rain never came till much later, Raintoday.co.uk didn't lie, the rain just went round the back of the downs.

The bit that always surprises me is how production bikes and cars that are considered fast, look really slow off the line.

Im reading an aerodynamics book at the mo, so it was good to have a good look at the Mclaren and take a load of pics.

I didn't realise the Sagaris had a whopping V8 in it or I would have taken a few more shots.

So whats the plan for next year, race fuel and massive hoosier drag radials wrapped around some force racing wheels? you'll still be in the same class ;)

Certainly 10" wheels with slicks seem to be the way forward. If I can get my 0-64ft times down there is a potential for a 10sec run. I'm not a million miles off the top 6 run off so would be nice to try again next year.

Did the car sound loud(er) or quieter?
