I know there was a mock-up pic of a black fury with a hardtop (must have seen that a few years ago)
Wouldn't it be nice to have an option of GT fury where the roof slopes gently down to the very back of the car to give you an opening boot! (hinged at the top of the window)

I'm thnking in particular of something like the arse end of a toyota 2000gt:

Heck, it might even be possible to create a conversion kit?

A hardtop was mocked up for the STYLUS but never produced for sale . The rear slanted section went right to the end of the rear arches but still retained an upright window behind your head , so that from the sides it looked like an '' E '' Type hardtop but no glass to the slanted rear --- this way you could still open the standard boot ;)

To build a Hardtop for the Phoenix/Fury with nice lines and good proportions is almost impossible. For a good looking roof the car is to small, and seats are to far in the back.

Here's the STYLUS GT Hardtop but not available as an option before SSC ceased operations.

I can remember seeing one of these hardtops on a Fury in 1996. It was owned by Bernie Coffin IIRC and I believe taken over by Roger Weaver, http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthr ... tid=128744, have a look about three quarters the way down this topic.

I guess Steve Hughes http://www.furysportscars.co.uk/ is as likely as anyone to know about them.

NO, pig ugly really. I thought the Stylus prototype looked OK. Cannot help feeling that things would get pretty warm under a hardtop with proper seals. My original Zetec Fury got as hot as hell with the hood up and that let plenty of air in. Passengers particularly complained about burnt feet and left arms from the exhaust system. Clearly I was not going fast enough if they had time to worry about being too hot!
