Asked this on the google group but no answers yet..so I will try on here

Does anyone know the open and closed lengths for the shock absorbers on a ‘normal’ setup on a Striker (Escort live axle)?

I could take them off and measure them but that takes time and will leave the car ‘off the road’ again for a few days as I don’t have much spare time to do little things like this at the moment L

Hello Peter , shocks of all makes/lengths go up in pretty standard jumps so if you jack the front right off the ground you'll be able to easily measure the open length --- centre bolt to centre bolt --- then assess the closed to match it.
ie. 11/80's 12/85's 13/90's etc . Mine are 11/80's so have 11 inch open length and 8 inch closed length , so have a 3 inch travel including the bumpstop(my bumpstops are VERY soft so allow at least half their distance to be compressed)
