Striker rack fit

At long last I'm coming to the end of mods to the chassis before blasting and painting it 
While putting together the front suspension to fit antiroll bar mounts I fitted the steering rack only to find this:
The mount is offset in relation to the rack, so much so that I've had to trim the rubber mount to get the rack on. This is a new quick
rack so I tried the old (standard ratio) item that was on the car when I bought it and that is exactly the same. Anyone alse experienced this??
Here's the roll bar set up - all a bit rudimentary at the moment
Have to work on the lower drop link joint as I don't think there's not enough articulation in it at the emoment - about 2 1/2 inches of travel at the outer (hub)rod end
