Fury clutch pedal ratio

Postby Lancaster_bob » Sat Jul 30, 2011 9:31 am

I'm contemplating a softer / longer travel clutch in my fury; currently its a standard fury pedalbox lifting a K-series/type 9 clutch in a caterham bellhousing, and I'd estimate the force is circa 75% too high but this is a real gut feeling figure. The plan is to mock up a temporary pedal to get the pivot ratios right, has anyone else done a similar mod and have any dimensions I can use as a starting point? Or does anyone need a shorter travel / higher force clutch pedal and want to swap?

Cheerio,

Rob

I altered the ratio on my Fury in order to reduce the through and give more feel. It was a bit binary ie. either on or off).
I moved the cable attachment up towards the pedal pivot by drilling a new hole. I then opened up the existing hole in the bulkhead so that the saddle on the end of the cable could be passed through complete (easier then trying to fiddle it together in the footwell), drilled a new mounting hole higher up the bulkhead and then cut a slot wide enough for the inner cable to slide through. The bulkhead hole now looks like a keyhole. The Clutch cable and saddle go through the big hole slots up and the outer inserted into the new hole.
From memory I'd say I reduced the distance from the pivot to the cable by about 1/3rd. That was just "best guess" and luckily it worked.

the fury i test drove before i ordered my chassis had the same either on or off feeling, this is likely something i'l have to look into, perhaps after iva. if you get a chance adi would you take a few measurements and perhaps a photo or too?

Cheers, Ed.

Sounds to me as though you've got a heavy duty cover as opposed to the wrong pedal/pivot ratio . At least the clutch will last a while . The standard cover allows too much slip under heavy trackwork.
