Jeremy replaced the Fiesta based rear uprights from the Riot with fabricated ones for the J15. His blurb says that Sierra rear calipers fit but I cannot find the discs to go wth them. JP says early Fiesta front discs will fit , but not as far as I can see.

Any ideas J15 builders?

My mojo uses Mk2 Fiesta 1.3 front discs on the rear - not sure if that is of help or not!?

I have a spare set in the garage, can get the QH part no if helpful...?

Any chance of measuring one of the spare discs for me? Overall dia, overall bell depth, id of bell into which hub fits and id of central hole if its not too much trouble. I guess its a solid disc of abbout 10 mm thickness?

The Brakes International catalogue details a lot of those dimensions when you look at a brake disc.

Obviously you can only search by car so it's a bit hit and miss, but could be useful for comparing discs from different models of Fiesta or something to see which one's could work?

David, many thanks. I have the EBC disc catalogue as a pdf, which is searchable of course, but it doesn't give so much detail.

Yep I use the sierra caliper, if I were starting again I'd use the ally bodied ones from rallydesign though, think that is what JP uses on his builds?

Will happily measure a disc if need be, let me know if the brake int catalogue gets you what you want or not... from a quick look their BDS4118 part looks about right.

That is indeed the disc I have but the bell height is too great. JP's blurb, http://www.sylva.co.uk/suspension.html, says the Sierra caliper has been caried over but then shows what I believe to be the RD caliper you mention. The problem with that is I want to use 13" wheels which it will not fit inside.

I've never been quite sure if the RD part was a straight swap with sierra calipers or not. There are some Mojos about running the RD calipers on Fiesta uprights so it can be made to fit. Sounds like the fabricated upright isn't quite equivalent to the Fiesta upright for some reason. Good luck getting it sorted!

Neil, I have just realised that the route to fitting the Sierra calliper is to reduce the thickness of the calliper bracket to get it to fit behind the disc. I see JP shows this being done with the bracket in a vice and a hack saw to trim it to the right size. I feel I would have trouble achieving the required accuracy doing it this way and also wind up with a very thin bracket. However I guess this is what you did?

It is also necessary to relieve the bracket to get it to clear the bearing housing. Mind you think of all the weight saving!

For my J15 i used the brand new audi calipers from comp brakes at £48 each think rally design do the same caliper now. Jeremy used these calipers on a build for a customer so i knew they would fit the discs were i think from a ford escort mk 2 fronts ? part no mdc1030.
