Zetec oil temperatures

hi all, fitted an electric oil temperature guide with the sender in the sump plug.
I've found it's not reading right when driving (60c ) as I'm thinking it's being air cooled , but when resting it's at 100c .
What does a zetec run at normally?
Senders ground to 0v or ground is fine.

Can't help you with the Zetec oil temp question, but I had exactly the same cooling problem on my Striker when I fitted a sump plug based temp sender.
I fitted an oil cooler eventually, and tapped into the pipes for that - much more accurate.

60 deg C is obviously too low but 100 deg C seems high on idle. Is the 100 deg C after a trash or just idling ? Which side of the engine is the sensor (exhaust side maybe ?

100 deg is after a modestly gentle drive , sender is carb side. As a temporary measure I taped up the sender and it worked slightly. Maybe just having the sender in the block would be easier but it's not a true reading .

I have Oil temp sensor on a sandwich plate behind the filter.. The Oil temp runs about 5 degrees below the water temp and is slower to rise and slower to fall after a blast.
Engine temp is around 85 just running about.. so oil lingers about 80 .. gets up closer to 100 when the revs are high for a decent time.
