Trouble filling with fuel..

Hi,

When I first got the fury a few weeks ago I'm pretty sure I just stuck the nozzle in, pulled the lever all the way and waited for it to click to tell me the tank is full..

Now for some reason I'm having to fill it very slowly otherwise it will just spew fuel all over the back of the car, like as if it's not getting rid of any air maybe? It keeps clicking even if the tank is nowhere near full. Any ideas why this might be happening??

Thanks, Ryan

mine does this too. In my case my fuel filler hose is pretty convoluted and so its difficult for the air to get out of the tank without bubbling up through the fuel.

The effect it to send fuel back to the filler, which guesses that the tank is full.

Filling slowly sorts the problem out for me. It might be possible to configure some kind of breather hose (inside the main filler hose) that lets the air out without it having to force its way past the fuel.

I'm sure it's gotten harder to fill though. Yesterday I took my time and was convinced it was full cos it kept clicking, got in the car and it was 60% and no chance was I going to get any more in it.

Hi Ryan,

I had this problem about 1/2 of the time. It seemed to be related to how quickly the fuel pump fills the tank. Sometimes it would be fine, other times it wouldn't.

I found squeezing the pump handle half way to get the fuel flowing helped. Also, altering the angle of the pump can help.

I think that fuel pumps have a number of in-built safety mechanisms, and our "non-standard" filler pipes trip some of these, and restrict supply.
I don't really have a problem filling my Striker, but it's a nightmare at my local petrol station trying to fill a small petrol can for the lawnmower.

Mine does the same sometimes. depends on the flow rate of the pump and how quick you pull the trigger. As its direct into the tank any splash back comes up the filler, cuts off the pump and out the top if you're not carefull or the cut off is slow.
A slow start with the trigger, notputting the nozzel in too far and a bit of angle can all help.
