IVA design weights for a RIOT SE

Postby RichN » Sun Sep 26, 2010 7:04 pm

Hi, I am filling in the forms for IVA and wondered if anyone could tell me the design weights for a RIOT SE using a Zetec-SE engine?

Thanks

Hi
Think it is 475kg that is what you see quoted in magazine articles etc. Im looking to try and get my J15 in at less than 500kg and hoping that the 25kg wieght difference will be cancelled out by it being a bit more aerodynamic ? if possible ! (all that fibreglass makes it heavier)
Give Sylva a ring Jeremy would have the definitive answer.

Wish i was as close to getting mine on the road

Good luck with the test

Design weight for the IVA form is the max posible loaded weight of the vehicle. Not the weight you might expect it to be when finished. For the Fury it's axle1 500kg, axle2 500kg, total 1000kg. The car will actually be far less than that.
At IVA they only check that it is greater than the kerb side weight at the test plus a fixed amount for ocupants and luggage. It's not used for anything else (braking is based on actual kerbside weight as taken at the test.
