Re: Richard's J15 build diary
Hi Guys,
well the end of another weekend and back to work tomorrow so time for an update!!
As I said on my last post I've been playing with the front and rear hubs and they're now on the car. The rear shafts are temporarily fitted too. They'll need shortening once I've got the engine and box in.
Steering column is in with it's Sierra wheel ready for IVA!!
Last bit of work has been fitting the rad. It's a Mk3 Golf rad bought from German & Swedish for £38!!
Ali brackets on the rad are inch by inch angle and the brackets on the chassis are made up to Jeremy's pictures. Ordering the hoses this week and then going to cut out a hole in the left hand bracket for the hose to go through. The way I've made the brackets they double as ducting directing the airflow through the centre.
Anyway enough chat again here's the pictures!
That's it for now
Cheers

Those front hubs are a work of art. Beautiful.
Are you planning on ducting the front of the rad too?

Yep certainly will be. The Golf rad has some really handy little bosses front and rear.

OK progress has been slow this week due to work and other commitments but hopefully my wheels will be here next week and once it's on its feet I can get the engine in.
Anyway what we have done: Rad is plumbed in now and the steering shaft has been shortend. Rack is finally fitted fully and the track rods shortend and the track rod end extenders fitted. Got it set up sort of straight until the final set up. Steering wheel now moves the wheels!!
We've also had a go at starting to get the body to fit - ahhh!!
Pictures....................
Cheers for now

Re: Richard's J15 build diary Updated 19 July
Hi guys, anyone out there?? Guess with nearly 600 views there must be!!
OK 23rd July and about 6 weeks into the build.
Have seen some real visable progress this week.
Wheels arrived and had the tyres fitted. Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2 in satin black shod with Yokohama Parada!!
Wheels on the car, car on the floor, engine in!! Gear cables connected up and select superbly! Well done Jeremy.
Couple of small jobs done on the engine, have removed and blanked off the EGR valve and the front crankcase breather.
Also fitted the new fan to the rad. Will be controlled by the ecu.
Still loads to do but here's the pics. Body and side pod only dropped on for now.
And the obligatory first stting in picture!!
What do you think?
Cheers
