Would this fit in a Striker without chassis modification Graham ?

if you want a reliable 150bhp try the mazda v6 1.8 should give that no problem and the torque makes it so diveable,if you want to go nuts and scare yourself try the 2.5 omg, its the same physical size as the 1.8
Mega squirt, throttle boddies and away you go,
cheers Graham

I haven't been in a BEC for some time now - I am sure it will match my use of the car though :D

Thanks for confirming what I thought about reverse Matt. I thought I could do without it practically, but was not sure about the legal aspects.

Anyone know what the MOT implications are of putting in a newer engine ?
I am currently "smoke test" only.

matt_gsxr wrote:Peter,

You don't need reverse unless you need to register the car (under IVA), or want to go racing (RGB). Reverse isn't really that useful. You just have to remember and plan accordingly. I would argue that if you are going to go bike engined then you want to save all the weight possible (e.g. no reverse and lightweight battery).

I thought it was unchanged, and Google was my friend:

"Vehicles Fitted with a differnt engine

Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle.
e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

"

From http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_730.htm

so, you can retain your "visible smoke", although most bike engines don't smoke like those cross-flows. I hope that isn't a problem.

Just realised that I am limited to 120mph with my current engine / diff combination anyway, so I have the opportunity to improve it with a change.

Pete

adithorp wrote:If you correct that calculator for the higher rev limit on the '06 R1 (1375) then you'd get 130 with your current diff and 205.60/13 tyres and 140 with a 3.54/1 diff.
