New brake master cylinder set up

Having an older model Striker means I have inherited this master cylinder set up which is less than ideal :?

Dont take much notice of the other stuff by the way as thats the next step :lol:

The build manual does'nt say what M/C is used but a Mk1 Fiesta one is mentioned in a kit car mag build guide I have.

Although the car runs standard Escort calipers and drums,I would like to fit a bias box set up in readiness for any future upgrades.

So, I wondered whether anyone else has done a retro-fit and what did they use?

The fact that the floor slopes upward below the pedals doesn't lend itself too easily to a floor mounted jobbie, so it may be a case of chopping off the current mounting box and making up some new bracketry to take an overslung set up.
Your thoughts or suggestions would be greatly apreciated

Hi Rich,

We used to use a single 0.75 master cylinder. However we quickly changed to either tandem of balance bars.

For your car I'd fit either the standard Girling / Caterham tandem master cylinder or the AP / Caterham version . See http://sylva-autokits.blogspot.com/2008 ... s-for.html

You will not have modify the pedal box but may have to shorten the push rod.

Another option could be the Willwood 1" tandem master cylinder. http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_in ... s_id=10444
It will be a bit more effort to fit but gives a nice firm pedal. You may have to fit a limiter in the rear circuit if the balance is not correct.

You will have to re-plump the car. It will be worth it for safety sake.

Hi Andy, yes got round the problem -went for a floor mounted set up :lol:
Got these on a well known auction site for very reasonable money

It actually killed three birds with one stone really as I wanted to re-position the steering wheel more to the centre and square to the car, create more space for the new motor which replaced the old X-flow, and finally resolved the master cylinder problem

Ended up with a new footwell
