My new seats from JK Composites are nearly in. I have gone from this:
to this:
I haven't weighed the old seats yet (still for sale by the way ), but I think there is a big weight saving here. I have stuck with the old 4-point harnesses for the moment until I can afford new 6 points.
Couple of questions:
I want to use self expanding foam behind the new seats to give a little extra support for the seats themselves. The seats seem very rigid, but for a tiny amount of weight, this seems to make sense. Can anyone recommend a particular brand, or shall I just use what I can get down at B&Q ?
Second question - the centre tunnel needs re-covering. Where can I get CF or CF look-alike at a reasonable price ?
Thanks,
Pete

Looks good....not sure about the foam idea though.
I got some stick on CF sheet off ebay which seem to work well.

Re: New seats
Finished putting the seats in today, and took the car out for a quick drive.
To be honest, I was expecting to feel no real difference on the road, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I feel much more connected to what the back end of the car is doing, and the brakes feel sharper as well, presumably because there isn't a layer of foam to compress behind me, before things start to happen.
And I have cut about 8kg from the weight of the car.
All in all a worthwhile upgrade.

Nice seats Pete.
Don't put tomato ketchup on your salad cream sandwiches. It spoils the taste of the chocolate spread.

Re: New seats
Hi Pete,
I got my expanding foam from -
http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS_Ca ... d_415.html
5kg is enough to make two full seats! The 2kg pack is more than enough to pack out the back of your seats. Just make sure the liquid is warm-ish before you mix it together, i.e. house temperature, not garage temperature! Couple of wheely bin bags and your away.
Mail me if you need any help.
Cheers, ian

They seem to be Paul. I haven't had time to take the car out for a decent drive yet.

Furthest I've been in the Tilletts in my Phoenix is 275miles non-stop. This type of seat is more comfortable than it looks, everyone who looks at my car says "they look uncomfortable" and when they get in they are very surprised.
