IRS Striker (new scuttle style), 2lt Duratec, BGH HD type 9, alloy calipers alround, carbon tunnel and scuttle panels, 13” Team Dynamic wheels with Toyo R888 boots, Lithium battery, 45amp alternator, Dash2 pro instrumentation/data logger, carbon front wings, tiny (legal but almost useless) headlights and the other lights are all LED to reduce wiring weight, full carbon mirror set.

Things that add weight. Extension to roll over bar (I'm over 6'2"), custom (no flex) pedal box, JK Composite seats (for another £1800 I could save 1-2kg fitting carbon Tilletts), massive track day friendly Stainless silencer, Sierra diff fitted with Quaife ATB

With 1/2 tank of fuel 525kg

31Kg was the gearbox. Zeus is 60Kg lighter.

Carbon Tilletts can be had for a lot less than that.

It was a bit of a guess but still loads of money for just a couple of kg ;)

525 kg is a great weight for a 2.0, Peter.
Even though I am a little obsessed with car weight, I can't be bothered to put my Striker on a diet.
It is plenty fast as it is for the road. And anything under 600 kg is good enough for me.

True, when you can lose 3Kg+ by going to a alloy cased Type9 for a starter. But the Tilletts can be had in GRP and don't weight that much more than the carbon ones.

My philosphy during the build was to try and use the lightest parts I could even if it meant saving some money for a few more months as I knew that once built I would not want to make any major changes. Only exception was the gearbox, it was second hand but looked OK so went straight in with the plan to take it to BGH for a full refurbish after the first year or twos use and at that point I could opt for a lighter case ;)

Not much else I can save weight on now but then I was bang on my target (although I have now fitted half doors and will be putting a rear underfloor/diffuser in this summer) :)

Great stuff Edd, your Striker wins the lardarse trophy!

You also win the right to use it as a hood ornament, like the Spirit of Ecstacy.
