Can anybody give an idea of the weight of a Striker with various engines fitted ?
For example i'd be interested to hear the difference in weight between a Toyota powered car and a Vauxhall one

I'm not sure what the spec of your car is but my 2.0XE IRS Striker weighs 580KG with a full tank of fuel , windscreen , wipers and side screens . ( weighed at NMS )

I am also adding some weights I found using the search function, would be cool if people can add more.
Mine: Striker MKII with MKIII/RAW front end, windscreen, 4AGE 20V + T50, perhaps 10 liters of fuel, 15" wheels, 580 kg.
Registration (when it had 13" wheels and a X-flow) says 540 kg.
Christof's Striker: Striker MKIII X-flow + T9, 13" wheels??, no windscreen, 3/4th tank of fuel, 525 kg
Werner Van Loock wrote:All I can say is that mine weighs 500Kg and that's striker nr17 using:
lightweight Morris Minor Live axle, Toyota 4AGE 16v (light compared to most other engines), Toyota T50 gearbox (very light compared to T9), 13" wheels and rubber (a lot lighter then 15"), escort front (a lot lighter then sierra), no windscreen, no wiper system, no heater, small battery, drums at the rear (lighter then discs), no nonsense interior eg Bare aluminium and CF dash
AndyHamp wrote:Mines 560Kg ... that was with windscreen/doors and 3/4 tank of fuel ....
Mazda MX5 engine/supercharger/inter-cooler/custom alli rad/etc
Escort Live axle/Serria disks/callipers/ATB diff
Outlaw callipers on front & "Raceleda" uprights
Bench style seats
Maverick440 wrote:Seam to recall mine came it at around the 550kg mark:
Striker IRS, Type 9, Rs 2000 ally bell housing, 2.0 Pinto, Ally sump, Sierra Vented front discs, Sierra rear discs, 15" wheels, Golf ally rad, Full screen and wipers
The Knobs wrote:Car is the red one thats on Raw brochure built by Les Phillips. 600 kg.
Sierra based with 16v 4age, T9, discs all round, screen and all the usual bits really. Only addition that is probably 15 kilos is the full bolt on cage. Wheels are cheapo 15" with 888s. It has a full dash with full instruments but nothing too ott.
The weighbridge is a VOSA one so should be very accurate.
Strikerxe wrote:I had the same trouble when I wanted to fit 13" on mine . Settled on 15" OZ wheels in the end as the lightest option I could find ( 5.25kg per wheel ) My car weighs 580 kg with a full tank of petrol so its no lightweight but I have got a screen, wipers and a heavy VX lump up front
I've got ally hubs on the front , with Capri uprights and lightweight calipers front and back as well as a motorcycle battery.
David wrote:Mine is a standard road going "Raw" (i.e. heavier aluminium) chassis/body and weighs in at 536kg (wet) with a Vauxhall C16XE engine. < Full spec at http://groups.google.co.uk/group/sylva-chat/web/david-chris-striker >
The car is used mainly for competition, so there are some weight penalties involved:-
-- dry sump tank, pump and pipework
-- oil cooler and pipework
-- 5-speed Tran-X "T9" dog box with cast iron casing
-- Sierra Diff with LSD unit in the IRS set-up
-- full roll cage
-- full alloy floor from nose-cone to rear lights
However, much of this disadvantage can be offset -- lightening work includes:
-- lightweight rear bodywork/arches, bonnet and nose (from Mel)
-- 13"x7 Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.2 wheels with Avon ACB10s (11.1 kg each vs 14.9kg for the previous Image Billet 93 15"x7 + Kumho V70A set-up)
Note: You need to rose-joint the standard Raw IRS rear wishbones to fit 13" rims. Fronts are tight on the steering arms, but OK.
-- Alloy front hubs (on standard Capri uprights)
-- Alloy callipers front and rear
-- 10 litre alloy fuel tank (worse than useless on a predominantly road car)
-- aero-screen (ergo, no wiper motor, etc.)
-- small alternator
-- sealed "gel" battery
Lightening work (except for drilling holes in things) is always expensive. Having said that, the most cost effective weight reduction measures IMHO are 13" wheels, front brakes, battery, and lighter-weight bodywork. Each of these can be done easily (possibly except for the rose-jointing), in your own time, and in any order you wish. (For instance, I did the wheels when I was going to have to pay for new tyres anyway (and there was a WSCC "bulk buy" with Team Dynamics), the nose cone after a minor altercation with a tyre wall, the rear bodywork when I needed anyway to go to detachable arches if I wanted to accommodate wider rubber.)

I´m afraid I have to say with me in it is pretty close to yours
Is there something heavy on yours? Seats, wheels
