Striker got weighed today, 600K, lardarse
So it looks like my car needs to cut down on some fat somewhere, but where to start, and where to stop.
Its a sierra irs chassis but it still sounds rather lardy to me.

All I can say is that mine weighs 500Kg and that's striker nr17 using:
lightweight Morris Minor Live axle
Toyota 4AGE 16v (light compared to most other engines)
Toyota T50 gearbox (very light compared to T9)
13" wheels and rubber (a lot lighter then 15")
escort front (a lot lighter then sierra)
no windscreen
no wiper system
no heater
small battery
drums at the rear (lighter then discs)
no nonsense interior eg Bare aluminium and CF dash
and that's it. Could be a little lighter by using fiberglass seats, lighter wheels, digital dash and by replacing the heavy escort Radiator and fan.

Thing is, i am thinking of changing the front end to escort bits and some lighter/better brakes coupled with some 13 wheels and tyres, and wonder what sort of weight will that lot drop ? That along with losing a few miles of cable from the loom, windscreen and wipers, one of the horns, lorry battery etc, might get it down to somehting a bit slimmer. Cant see be able to lose 50 kilos plus though.

Mines 560Kg ... that was with windscreen/doors and 3/4 tank of fuel ....
Mazda MX5 engine/supercharger/inter-cooler/custom alli rad/etc
14" wheels
Escort Live axle/Serria disks/callipers/ATB diff
Outlaw callipers on front & "Raceleda" uprights
Bench style seats
600kg sounds high for a Striker ... what's the spec ?

Car is the red one thats on Raw brochure built by Les Phillips.
Sierra based with 16v 4age, T9, discs all round, screen and all the usual bits really. Only addition that is probably 15 kilos is the full bolt on cage. Wheels are cheapo 15" with 888s. It has a full dash with full instruments but nothing too ott.
The weighbridge is a VOSA one so should be very accurate.

Re: Striker got weighed today, 600K, lardarse
Well, 15" wheels and Tyres compared to 13" wheels and tyres can save up to 5KG/corner!
The sierra uprights are massively heavy
the IRS version will always be heavier then the live axle version, you will just have to live with it
windscreen wiper and heater combo is also a massive weight
but the biggest weightsaver is yourself. Whenever I get into the car, I add 20% weight
So if I can lose 20KG, that would be the biggest weightsaver
