New tyres - opinions?

I took my Riot to Bedford Autodrome yesterday and had a great day. Three things became clear - I need an oil catch can (ordered), the speedo and tacho under-register, and the tyres (I believe that they are the ones originally fitted by Jeremy Phillips when he built the car) are far too old to perform well. The grip improved when I dropped the tyre pressures to mid teens and they got really hot, but they are ancient - 2006! I need new tyres, but I have not found any opinions about tyre choices from anyone running lightweight cars. I'd be really grateful to hear others' likes, dislikes, or recommendations.
I've been thinking about the cheapest R rated tyres I can find:
I can get Federal 595RSRs in 140 compound, delivered for about £240. I have these cheapy Federals on my 2ZZ Corolla track day car and I've been quite impressed by them...but that's a 1 ton fwd hatchback, often used on wet track days.
Nankang NS2Rs in 180 compound for £230 delivered - no experience, but a friend had them on his 300bhp Mini yesterday and didn't like them as much as his previous AD08Rs.
Otherwise:
Toyo Proxes R1Rs for just under £300 delivered.
Yokahama AD08Rs are about £320 delivered.
