Who do i go to for Axle

Postby pigeondave » Mon Nov 20, 2017 2:25 pm

Hi All,

Ive got two escort axles, i'd like to make one super axle and one less so super.
Who is regarded as one of the best around for this sort of work.

The Titan Diff will have to go back to titan as ive shagged it using the wrong oil. The carbon plates are no longer.

For the build up i'll need drums changing to calipers and half shafts swapping and obviously the backlash and bits set up as well as the wear looked at to see if alls ok.

Who do i go to?

Not used them myself but I have read good things about Road and Race Transmissions near Sevenoaks doing jobs like this,

Thats what i want to swap over with the Titan diff.

Last time procomp did it all when they gave the axle a better geometry. Had real problems sealing the ends.

any one tried https://www.tracsport.com

i took my English LSD to SP components (- seems like a they've got a new name)for a rebuild last year after hearing good things and i'm local, and ended up up buying a new LSD from them as mine was shagged...
really happy with the diff and the set up which they asked loads of questions about, service was not the quickest (probably 4-5 weeks all in), but my car was off the road at the time for winter so i wasn't fussed

They make gear sets for burton and do all the Caterham gearbox/lsd repairs.
He also has a striker for testing the type9 and caterham gearbox's in.

Steve Parks (SPC/Tracsport) is very knowledgeable as is Phil at Road & Race. Phil will normally turn things around fast if you ask him.

Thats good to know because Dave probably won't get around to this until the week before we're due to board a ferry.

Lol

I dropped a diff off with him in the morning one day and collected it in the afternoon on the way home, in between he had replaced the CWP and set the diff up again.

And ive always nearly made it to the Ferry on time. It was only the once when i snapped the non return valve that i didnt tour.

engine and gearbox swaps only really take a few hours when pushed

I didn't say you'd miss the ferry; Just you have a habit of cutting it close... Like the time you left 11's right across the dockyard from the check-in booth to the boat ramp.
