Following on from Llandow on Saturday, does anyone have any recommendations for on-board cameras and mounts that give good results ?

I was thinking of something that mounted on the roll-bar.

I had a new camera in on Sat'. The camera came from dogcamsport.co.uk
It's the Mini DVR 520 bullet camera kit.

Unfortunatly I've only seen the results on the 2" screen but they look OK. I've been unable to view the footage on my laptop so far, partly due to my numpty-ness and partly due to the softwear on the laptop. I'll post the results on the Llandow thread should I every figure it out.

Have a look here: http://www.b-hague.co.uk/camera%20supports%20systems.htm for camera mounts. I use one of there suction mounts and it works very well, they're a bit expensive though!

I got the suction cups from ebay (http://tinyurl.com/n4zqxx) and the camera too (http://tinyurl.com/l595bk). It's all held together with some P-clips but you could also mount the camera to the rollbar using jubilee clips if required.

The recorder is a JXD-990 from eBay (of course!) and this setup allows me to replace or upgrade parts as required. I've also got a small microphone which I've located behind the windscreen to keep the wind noise right down. The system is very stable in operation with no vibration and I'll try and upload a YouTube video soon.

Just bought one of these Mini video recorder gizmos for future in car recording! £20 + delivery from a UK ebay seller (there are loads of imitation imports available for about £13 delivered, however these are plastic rather than alloy cased, and seem a bit hit and miss). Mine is essentially identical to a Veho Muvi (current cheapest price £40 at tesco direct). Very neat little unit, now just need to see what kind of results it gives... there are a few samples on youtube if you search on 'MD80'

Very interested to hear/see your feedback on the quality of the mini camera.
Looking at the video's on the link you provided the quality looks good but slow cycles and roll bar mounted Sylva action might be a different matter

I have one of these http://www.atc2k.com/ the ATC 5K. Video is OK but the sound suffers as it is built in to the camera. I wish I had bought a Mini DV and bullet cam now.

Hi Tony,

I'm not expecting miracles from this little device, but for the money it had to be worth a try!

I have now got a couple of sample of vids on youtube, taken in rather demanding conditions, ie early morning darkness with streetlighting only, with roof on and snow outside, hence some extremes of brightness!

I think it copes pretty well considering, but expect a lot more once I get some day time footage with the roof off, and mounted onto the roll bar.

The vids are quite 'interesting' as conditions were not exactly what the Mojo was built for...
