13" wheels

Postby martin » Sun Jan 15, 2017 8:32 pm

My Phoenix is fitted with 14" wheels with list 1C tyres so I need to change the tyres so I thought I might as well go for 13", I have read that some 13" wheels do not fit the Phoenix with IRS/discs does any one know what wheels definitely fit? Will the pre race 1.2 fit?

Thanks,

Martin

If you want to come all the way to Kent you can try a set of my Compomotive CXRs.

My IRS Striker has pro race 13" wheels but they are tight. What calipers do you have?

I have HiSpec Rear SVA Ultralite 2 Sierra Lug Mount Caliper and the wheel is very close to the handbrake mech. Before that I had standard Sierra calipers but with lower handbrake springs to make them fit.

Not sure about pro race, but I downsized to some 13" CXR's on my IRS Fury - Hi-spec fronts are OK, but the rear Sierra handbrake lever needed some filing to clear (just!)

A kind offer Jeff but given the weather I don't fancy a trip to Kent.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Peter,

I have Willwoods on the front and I think it is standard Sierra on the rear, I shall have a look at the weekend. If I only have to modify the hand brake springs then that is good.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi James,

That is good to know, it looks like I have a few 13" options.

Thanks,

Martin

there are 7x13 with 23 offset fitted with 205/60 and 185/60 Toyo R888R tyres at £770 on flea bay, is this a good choice of wheel size/offset and tyre for a combination for hillclimbing, road and track days?

You need to try it and see. The front will be OK but rears maybe to far in.

If you did fancy a trip to Kent (and why not....its a lovely place) then I am only 20 minutes away from Jeff (2 minutes if its working hours) and would happily let you try a pro race for size (that's assuming Jeff has sold all his pro race wheels....I lost track of what round metal things he has on the corner of his car a long time ago) :D
