Hi,
Thanks to this forum and particular thanks to cockers13, I am now the new owner of a STM ZX9 Phoenix. I have always loved the look of the Fury/Phoenix and am delighted to finally own one. Collected yesterday and only had a short drive but I am still smiling.
Plans are to prepare the car for hill climbing and sprinting so lots of work to do:
- MOT next week
- Sort out a roll cage
- Sort out a reverse, I will probably go for an electric reverse so if anyone has any experience, good or bad, please let me know
- New seat and harness
- Find a trailer
Then have some fun.
Thanks again to cockers13, a real gent and a pleasure to deal with.
Martin

Nice, got any pics?
How come you need a reverse? or is it something you want.

Hi Jeff,
I have read your fettling post but most of the pictures are not available but in your Castle Coombe sprint report I see that your ROP doesn't look as bad as I expected after reading the blue book. My only concern is the requirement that the driver's head is below a line from the top of the ROP to the substantial part of the bodywork, I assumed that this would be the front of the chassis, as the bodywork is not substantial, therefore requiring a ROP much higher than yours appears to be, am I misreading the requirements or is the photo missleading?
Also, did you go for the cut out hatch in the rear bodywork to permit installation?
So many questions but I really want to get this right as I plan to be competing at Gurston's first event in April and I am very aware that I have a lot of work to do to get the car ready!
Regards,
Martin

Re: New Phoenix owner
The line is to the front of the engine as that is likely to be the point the car sits on if inverted. Fury Sportscars cut the bodywork on the rear tub and built a new structure to support the rearward facing struts.
Check the 2017 blue book as they have changed the rules again to allow forward facing struts now.

Thanks Jeff,
I shall have a careful read of the blue book, I shall have to get a seat sorted first as I am seated a lot higher than you appear to be so this will obviously determine the height of the ROP.

Re: New Phoenix owner
Why are you sitting higher? Are you particularly tall or is the seat in the wrong position?
